WIP

It's Work-in-Progress Wednesday.

Short-term
1. Finish the Beginner Crazy Quilt class given by Kathy Shaw. It's been wonderful.
2. Begin the embroidery on some CQ blocks that I made several years ago (long story, will write a separate post)
3. Layer and quilt the baby quilt for the NICU at Providence Portland Hospital.
4. Pick another CQ project to start thinking about...

Long-term
1. Make a snowball CQ block for Renee Y. Send it out by November 15th.
2. Finish the black, white and red quilt I started for my daughter many years ago.
3. Polish up this blog...

Yay!

Okay, we're going to try this again!

I've begun doing crazy quilting again and next year, if they still do it, I'll jump into CQJP 2015 (fingers crossed that Kathy Shaw et al will continue it).

Speaking of Kathy, I'm taking an online Beginner Crazy Quilt class from her. It's FREE. Her love of CQ compels her to do it. The class is so amazing. Lots of work, it's been difficult to keep up in a dimly lit house after working at my full-time job all day. But I've learned so much. Hopefully, you will see proof of that on this blog...

Change of plans!

I swear I have Adult ADD... I love crazy quilts but all the design choices paralyze me. So, I'm going to start working on the Farmer's Wife Sampler quilt. It's all pieced blocks (6" squares). I like large queen-size quilts so it'll be over 111 blocks. If I can make 3 blocks a week, it'll take about 37 weeks or 10 months. Today I'm going to order the fabric and print the paper piece templates. Here we go!

One down, Eleven to go...

I made my first block today (unembellished!). The piecing wasn't too bad, I only had to rip out a few seams... :-)

Now to the fun part, the embellishing!

Thanks to Gerry K. at Older Rose

I saw this block design and thought it looked so simple even I could do it and so I emailed Gerry to ask her if she would give her permission for me to use this block as the basis for my work on the Crazy Quilt Journal Project for 2012. She kindly said yes.

Good block for CQJP 2012

Others' Crazy Quilts

Since I signed up for the CQPJ challenge, I've been looking at others' blogs/websites. There are many gorgeous ones out there but this is a very interesting setting.

Welcome!

My name is Lynne and I've decided to join the Crazy Quilt Journal Project challenge. We're supposed to create one crazy quilt block each month for 12 months. I promise to post pictures as each block is finished. I'll also be sprucing up this blog with interesting doodads and such.

Should be interesting!
